Certified Results of Puerto Rico’s 2024 Plebiscite

After a number of delays, the certified results of Puerto Rico’s seventh plebiscite on political status have been published.

CERTIFICATED FINAL RESULTS- PLEBISCITE 2024

The vote, giving voters a choice among the viable non-colonial options for Puerto Rico’s political status, is the seventh political status vote in the history of Puerto Rico. Statehood gained the majority of votes, as it did in the 2012, 2017, and 2020 referenda. Puerto Rico’s current status is that of an unincorporated territory of the United States, often referred to as a “commonwealth.”

Here are the official results:

  • Statehood won with 58.61% of the votes.
  • Sovereignty in free association with the United States received 29.57% of the votes.
  • Independence received 11.82% of the votes.

The total number of votes was 1,059,212.
